Just like any other visa procedure, there is a non-refundable and mandatory fee that an applicant has to pay when applying for a Schengen Visa.
The fee depends upon the nature of the Schengen Visa, the age of the applicant and on some other factors (mentioned below in the article).
The visa fee is included in the cost of the Schengen Visa application.
Schengen Visa
Schengen Visa is a short-stay visa that enables its holder to travel 26 European countries which are part of Schengen Area. Authorities concerned will not subject holder of Schengen Visa to border checks at internal borders of the Schengen countries.
Schengen Area
The Schengen refers to a territory where the free movement of persons is guaranteed. The 26 signatory States to the Agreement have abolished all internal borders in lieu of a single external border. In Schengen Area common rules and procedures are applied with regard to visas for short-stays, asylum requests and border controls. Simultaneously, cooperation and coordination between Police services and judicial authorities guarantee security. Schengen cooperation was incorporated into the European Union (EU) legal framework by the Treaty of Amsterdam of 1997.
Procedure of paying Schengen Visa fee
The procedure of paying the fee for Schengen Visa isn’t complicated at all. The applicant can deposit the fee through cash, debit or credit card at the corresponding embassy or consulate of the host nation.
However, there are some embassies and consulates which do not accept payment through credit card.
Visa Fee
Despite that, some categories remain exempt from paying the cash in terms of visa fee. Thus far, the aforementioned visas’ fees are fixed and static. However, the member states of the Schengen Area have authority to revise them altogether.
Once submitted, the visa fee is non-refundable.
